Commitment to Service

The importance of community service has been taught and celebrated at Ursuline for 116 years. Our school motto of Serviam (Latin for “I will serve”) has inspired our students to share their time and talents to improve the lives of others.

All students perform a minimum of 80 hours of service by the end of sophomore year, and National Honor Society members (juniors and seniors) perform 50 hours per year.

By May 2009, the current senior class had contributed 9,153 hours of service to the community (an average of 148 hours per student). More than 50 agencies are served each year, including Ministry of Caring, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, area hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and daycare centers.
